NEW DELHI: Now, IndiGo flyers doing web check-in to skip long queues at airports will need to pay for this service too.
The domestic market leader on Sunday said it will charge “for all seats from passengers doing web check-in.” With IndiGo having 43% market share in domestic skies, other low cost carriers are likely to follow suit.
What this means is that people travelling solo or in groups okay with sitting separately and opting for the free middle row while doing web check-in will also need to pay up.
According to the low cost carrier website, seat selection charges on IndiGo domestic flights are Rs 600 for any seat in row 1, 12 and 13; Rs 300 for any seat in rows 2 to 10; and Rs 200 for any seat in row 11 and the window and aisle seats from row 14 to 20.
The seats with no selection fees are middle ones in row 14 to 20 and all seats in row 21 to 30.
Seats will be assigned as per the availability.”
An IndiGo spokesperson said: “Based on consumer preferences, we have made some changes in pricing for advance selection of seats.
Which means to save money by booking meals at a lower rate, one needs to pre-book seats for a fee!” Saxena rued.

Twitter user @CPKhandewal, wrote “Spice jet is making fool of flyers by not allowing web check in without , paying extra . They don’t even allow web check in without selection of seats. Ministry is requested to look into this complaint of arbitrary working.”
