A newborn baby girl has been saved after emergency services conducted a three hour mammoth rescue from a storm drain pipe in Durban.
“She has been rescued out of the drain.
A rescue effort with police search and rescue together with numerous other services continued for three hours.
Skilled officers had to burrow into the ground and stabilise the area around the pipe.
The child could be heard during most of the rescue.
“We can hear the baby crying.

We adopted Smokey last year October from African Tails from a foster family after he was rescued off a dump site. At the time of his rescue Smokey was a very shy and timid dog and was petrified of new surroundings and other dogs. But in the seven months since we have had the privilege of having him, he has grown into a wonderfully friendly, confident and energetic dog who just loves playing with other dogs.
