DirecTV now has very quietly launched two new packages, in addition to the five it’s had for some time now.
The two new plans are called “Plus” and “Max.”
But DirecTV Now already has them listed on their channel breakdowns .
Plus has the fewest channels of any of the options and comes in at $50 a month (which is $10 more than the “Live a Little” plan.”
Why the higher prices, given that the two plans have fewer channels than any of DirecTV Now’s other offerings?
Mostly because Plus includes HBO, and Max includes HBO and Cinemax.

Whether including HBO along with fewer overall channels will do that remains to be seen.
We’re also still waiting on DirecTV Now’s new set-top streaming box, but nothing official on that as of it.
(Though plenty of folks are currently beta testing it.)

Most people seem to think that the end is near for U-verse. Bloomberg wrote in early 2016 that it’s no longer a priority for AT&T and will likely be shelved for good, claiming, “AT&T has stopped building U-verse set-top boxes and is nudging prospective customers toward its satellite unit.” The provider has basically said the same, too. When AT&T shuttered uverse.com in late 2017, a spokesman told the Dallas Business…
