Opinion: why A ‘potentiAl threAt’ fAiled into ruin Homegrown 2019Newshub #Potential_ThreatMarch 24, 2019
As changeover was underway for Shapeshifter to close out the night, we were preparing to make our way to the side of the stage so I could capture images and video of the minute’s silence to be held for the victims of the Christchurch terror attack.
Punters evacuated after a potential threat at Homegrown.

Some showed a sense of urgency, others were kind of mulling around and waiting around to see what was about to happen.
An edge of stubbornness kicked in and my group of friends, in somewhat disbelief, waited until for an official word before getting up.
Within a couple of minutes, a security guard approached the table and told us that there was a “potential threat” and we needed to move.
So did the 5000 people on the other side of the stage waiting for P Digsss to perform.
Police had told organisers to evacuate the area due to a person appearing “agitated and possibly suspicious”.
Shapeshifter took to the stage and lost only 10 minutes from their set after police gave the ‘all clear’ following the evacuation.
There is little doubt in my mind, that without the trauma and pain caused by a lone gunman which claimed the lives of 50 people, the move to evacuate an entire stage would not have been triggered on the back of an “agitated” person giving police a hard time.
