From the moment he threw the punch — a picture perfect left hook — Mario Barrios knew his night at the office was going to be a short one.
“I’ve been hit with liver shots before and know that’s the type of punch you don’t get up from.
Barrios said he’s ready for a shot at a world title now.
“I don’t want to disrespect other champions, but I think Mario Barrios is the best 140 pounder in the world right now,” de Cubas said.
It was a punch heard round the boxing world.
“Only the great ones can do stuff like that,” said Goossen, 65, who has been in the boxing business more than 50 years.
“Every fighter will tell you they’d rather get hit on the chin than on the liver with a good shot.”
He’s a very energetic fighter, he’s big for the division, got good punching power.
“He’s a very good prospect.
That guy’s a champion in waiting,” Goossen said.
