Where do Syracuse’s Tyus Battle, Oshae Brissett sit at final NBA mock drafts?syracuse.Com #Main_MenuJune 19, 2019
Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse fans should prepare themselves for the worst when the NBA Draft takes place on Thursday, at least if the final spate of expert mock drafts and lists are to be trusted.
There are 60 players selected in the draft.
ESPN‘s Jonathan Givony also ranked his Top-100 prospects and was more pessimistic, placing Brissett at No.
In Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim’s most recent assessment of each player’s professional basketball prospects, he noted they will likely need to spend multiple years in the G-League in an effort to show they can perform at the NBA level.
Boeheim noted most players selected outside the top 15 usually receive some seasoning at the G-League level before making an impact in the NBA.
“I think they’re going to get a chance to play next year,” Boeheim said last week.
You’ve got to work your way into the NBA.
Guys like Seth Curry, it took him a couple years in the G-League.
Darius Bazley, who was projected as a first-round pick and signed with Syracuse before he opted to sit out and train for the draft, is included in all prominent mock drafts.
If Battle or Brissett go undrafted, they will still have the opportunity to land on summer league and training camp rosters and compete for a position.
