Stop The presses: Bill Smith retiring From The Daily Sun following 45 yearsArizona Daily Sun #Daily_SunOctober 13, 2019
Bill Smith is actually going to retire?
So many times, through his four decades at the Daily Sun and four ownership groups, Smith has performed feats both extraordinary and routine to keep the presses running and make sure the physical product of the paper — pulp-and-ink, as opposed to pixels-and-bandwidth — remained a daily part of Flagstaff life.
It was 10 a.m. when the lightning hit, three scant hours before deadline, and the paper in Prescott had agreed to print that day’s Daily Sun.
Smith is a self-described deadline-obsessive, or as former Daily Sun publisher Don Rowley put it as “a stickler and old-school when it comes to making deadline.
Bill Smith stands beside the printing press in the pressroom at the Arizona Daily Sun on Monday morning.
Smith will retire at the end of the month after more than 45 years making sure that the news of life in Flagstaff reaches newspaper racks and doorsteps.
“Bill and the pressroom, they’ve caught things the newsroom has missed just out of sheer contentiousness,” Rowley said.
I mean, it’s his newspaper.”
He’d handle pressroom duties, making sure the press run went off on time at 1 a.m., then drove daily Grand Canyon Visitor’s Guides that the Daily Sun printed up to the South Rim, drove back near dawn and delivered papers on his small route.
But only for a year.
Adult spanking is a curious thing. I mean, most of us did not like being spanked as children. We dreaded spankings, didn’t we? So, why do so many of us long to be spanked as adults. I think for some of us, it is for sexual pleasure. For others, it is to meet an emotional need. Maybe we feel we deserve it before we enjoy fucking. Some parts of society make women feel we are bad if we enjoy being fucked. So, maybe we feel better about our longing if we are punished first. I will tell you why I want you to spank me.
